Make a difference in the lives of others. This is one of the messages of the simile of salt and light. Salt gives flavor to a tasteless food. Light conquers darkness. As Christians, we are called to transform others. We can only do that if we are distinct from them. We cannot add flavor if we are equally tasteless. We cannot spread light if we ourselves are in darkness. We must be hopeful to strengthen the despairing. We must be joyful to lift up those in sorrow. |
