Ostentation is public display. That is the enemy of righteousness. That is the mockery of holiness . The triple acts of piety (prayer, fasting and almsgiving) should be performed not to gain admirers. We become stage actors [The gospel uses a Greek word that means "theater"] when our good deeds are aimed at seeking popularity and public approval. Everything we do is solely in the name of love and always ad majorem Dei gloriam. |
