There are times when we are tempted to throw our hands up. Problems are looming and we feel like running into a wall. Today's gospel is reassuring. Jesus says, "Do not be afraid" and he declares it thrice. God cares for us as he looks after the sparrows. In the sixth chapter of Matthew, Jesus says we are more blessed than the lilies of the field and birds of the air. Such consoling utterance should keep our flame alive. |
