We may be affluent but in the end we will discover the folly of wealth. The rich man spoken of in today's gospel amassed riches for himself only to hear the toll of death he didn't see coming. There is nothing wrong with material possessions as long as we are not "possessed" by them. In other words, it is our attachment to wealth that endangers our soul. With what we have, our motive is love. Only love. Always love. |
