Authenticity is the antidote to pretense. Jesus slams the scribes and the Pharisees for being" great pretenders." Their hypocrisy [from the Greek word which means "actor's mask] makes them untrue to their real character. They are whitewashed tombs appearing immaculately clean but are so filthy inside. God knows our inner core. Why do we pretend to be the kind of persons we are not? Let's bare our true selves. Sincerity is disarming. |
