"Joy and sorrow are inseparable. Together they come. When one sits with you at your board, the other is asleep upon your bed," says Kahlil Gibran. Jesus, in today's gospel, pronounced a reassuring and comforting promise, "Your grief will become joy." The tears of his death were turned into the cheers of his resurrection. The morose mood of this pandemic will turn into the jocose spirit of a covid-free world. St. Gregory the Great spoke of the pain of the affliction and the joyful memory of the gift. |
