Ordinarily viewed negatively as shameful and humiliating, the cross was made positive by the death and resurrection of Jesus. Today's feast of exaltation gives glory to the cross of Christ where he redeemed the sinful humanity. Just like the lifted bronze serpent of old which became the source of healing, Jesus lifted on the cross became the source of redemption. Let's look at the cross. It is a plus sign. It is very positive. |
