Touching a sinner. Loving a sinner. Jesus did just that. The Pharisee who invited the Lord derided him. "If this man were a prophet, he would know...this woman... a sinner." Certainly Jesus knew that the woman was a sinner. It is precisely for the sinners that He came. "I came not to call the righteous but sinners." Would that we were as merciful as the Lord. We tend to look down on sinners. We easily ridicule an erring fellow. Let's emulate Jesus, the God of compassion. |
