What is solitude? Derived from the Latin "solus" it is associated with aloneness, privacy and isolation. The gospel sheds more light. Typically Lucan, the pericope narrates Jesus' prayer in solitude. He was not literally alone because his disciples were with him. Nonetheless, he was in solitude which means he was "alone with his Father" in deep prayer. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, do we find time for prayer in solitude? |
