Joy comes after the pain. Ps. 126:5 says, "Those who sow in tears will reap witn joy." Today's gospel dramatically describes the pain of childbearing and the happiness that follows it. That is the paschal mystery. There is life after death. There is light at the end of the tunnel. If we have the guts, we will have the glory. Yes, there is no gain if there is no pain. There is no crown if there is no cross. |
