Envy has no place in the heart of a Christian. One should rejoice at the good fortune of another. The two kinds of imagery in the gospel both point to the joy of finding. We rejoice with the one who has found what was lost. Crab mentality marked by green envy is the mark of a Filipino. Against this attitude is the invitation to share the joys of a brother. If he is a brother, his success is yours, too. Never be envious. Never get jealous. |
