The word "easy" is rendered in Greek as "chrestos" which can be translated not only as "good, excellent or beneficial" but also "fitting well." When Jesus describes his yoke as easy he refers to the yoke which is measured or chiseled to fit the animal well. The trials Jesus sends us are not beyond our human capacity and strength. They fit us well. So, we don't have the right to complain that we are overburdened. The Lord knows our limits. |
