A singing heart, a grateful heart! That was Mary's heart when she sang the Magnificat. Biblical scholars believe that Mary did not compose it. St. Luke utilized an already existing hymn and placed it on the liips of Mary as it sounds generally compatible with his view on the Blessed Mother. Be that as it may, the hymn remains a song of praise and thanksgiving. It magnifies God who "has done great things." We own this hymn because we are truly grateful. |
