Guests wailing during a wedding. We never see that coming. Yes, it is utterly unthinkable. Wedding is supposed to be a time of jubilation. It is a joyful celebration. The coming of Jesus establishes a covenantal relationship . He himself is the Bridegroom wedded to his Spouse, the Church. And that calls for rejoicing. A sorrowful fasting is simply out of place. Jesus is in our midst. His presence evokes joy. In the Eucharist, let us gladly welcome him. Let this joy stay in our hearts. |
