Being with Jesus and being sent by him. It is necessary to stay with the Lord before undertaking a mission. Yes, discipleship is a conditio sine qua non. The twelve men, before becoming "apostles" or "sent" had to be with Jesus first. They needed to be taught by the Lord. They had to learn his ways. That explains why we have a seminary formation. The candidates for the priesthood must be configured to Christ before getting ordained. That spiritual preparation accepts no substitute. |
