The Greek word for sin is "hamartia" which means "missing the mark." In Filipino, "sala" means the same thing. In the narrative of today's gospel, the companions of Jesus missed the mark. Yes, they missed the point. They were terrified by the howling winds. They thought Jesus was not concerned about them. They forgot Jesus is the Lord of nature. They never knew how much Jesus cares for them. They forgot that Jesus was with them. Oh, they missed everything. |
