Feast of the Encounter. Simeon and Anna encountered the Holy Family. This happened when the infant Jesus was presented in the Temple in obedience to the law: Every firstborn child belongs to the Lord and must be consecrated to Him. What a beautiful encounter. Simeon of Old meets Jesus of the New Covenant. The disciple meets the Master. Let us desire to encounter Jesus. He is the Lumen Gentium, our light that guides our way. |
