From the essay "Pamplona Letter" written by Ernest Hemingway, we got the expression "grace under pressure." That was the attitude of the Syrophoenician woman in today's gospel. She was insulted but kept her cool. In an embarrassing situation, she stayed smart and daring. Jesus was astonished. He saved her daughter from demonic possession. Times there are when we are placed under trial. Lest we panic and become losers, we should stay calm. We call it "grace under pressure." |
