"Be like the Father, the God of compassion. Be like Jesus, the compassion of God." The papal bull of the late Pope Francis entitled "Misericordiae Vultus" describes the loving and merciful God as "always ready to forgive." This is exactly the message of today's gospel. To forgive seventy times seven is a symbol of mercy without measure. Someone asked me, "Why do you repeatedly forgive?" I smiled and said, "Because God never stops forgiving me." |
