Come to think of it -- The word "devil" comes from the Greek "diabellein" which means "to scatter or separate." It is the desire of the devil to divide or scatter us. He is inimical to unity which is the prayer of Jesus for his followers. In today's gospel He affirms that the divided kingdom cannot stand. The devil's kingdom marked by division is bound to fail. Our common desire is unity in diversity. When we are united, God is with us. |
