To submit oneself to the will of another is difficult, if not totally painful. You seemingly lose your freedom when you are ruled by another. However, submission to God's will is different. It is truly rewarding. We have Jesus as our model. In the Johannine gospel, he speaks of his exemplary obedience to His Father. "I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me." Does our surrender to God diminish our freedom? On the contrary, it sets us free. |
