The Lucena Diocesan Educational System continues to uphold its mission of forming Christ-centered learners as Bishop Mel Rey Uy reaffirmed the vital role of Catholic education in today’s rapidly changing world. In a recent gathering, all 13 diocesan Catholic school directors and school heads convened together with the superintendent, Fr. Edwin Baruelo, for a meeting led by Bishop Uy. The assembly highlighted unity, collaboration, and a renewed commitment to the shared mission of Catholic education within the Diocese of Lucena. Bishop Uy emphasized that Catholic schools are not only centers of academic excellence but, more importantly, institutions of faith formation. He reminded the educators that their mission goes beyond instruction—it is about shaping hearts, nurturing values, and forming individuals grounded in Gospel teachings. He also encouraged school leaders to remain steadfast in their vocation as educators and mission partners of the Church, especially in facing modern challenges in education. The bishop underscored the importance of integrating faith, culture, and life in the educational system to ensure that students grow not only in knowledge but also in character and spirituality. The meeting served as a meaningful opportunity for dialogue, reflection, and strengthening of collaboration among school leaders. It also reaffirmed the shared vision of building a Christ-centered educational community committed to excellence, service, and evangelization. |
