Mary is not only the Mother of God. She is also the Mother of the Church. As we honor her today in obedience to the late Pope Francis, we recognize her important role as the One to whom Jesus entrusted us. In today's gospel, Mary is entrusted to the Apostle John who vicariously stands as a representative of all the faithful. She intercedes for the whole church. She accompanies us in our journey and leads us closer to her Son, Jesus. |
