Gen. 1:1 can be paralleled with Jn. 1:1. Both start with "In the beginning..." During creation the Spirit (The Hebrew "Ruah" means "wind" or "breath") hovered over the waters. Life began. After the Resurrection Jesus "breathed" on the apostles. Dead to sin, they received the Spirit. They were endowed with life. Pentecost is a new creation. We receive the Spirit, the "breath of life," to recreate us. We "shall be created and we shall renew the face of the earth." |
