Lest we complain that our burdens are too heavy to bear, today's gospel offers consoling words. Jesus says, "My yoke is easy and my burden light." The Greek word used is "chrestos" which means "easy" or "fitting well." The yoke is especially measured to fit the animal using it. That is how God sends us sufferings. They are not beyond our capacity. They fit us well. Indeed, we have no reason to complain. |
