Stop judging. This, in a nutshell, is the message of today's gospel. We cannot remove the splinter from another's eye if a wooden beam is in our own. We are equally weak, perhaps a worse sinner. We cannot pretend to be blameless so as to judge the imperfection of a brother. We need a clear mirror to discover our own weakness and begin to understand, rather than condemn, another's shortcomings. |
