How can we enjoy a sumptuous meal that is coming from plunder? In today's gospel, Jesus chided the scribes and Pharisees, "Woe to you ...hypocrites. You cleanse the outside of cup and dish but inside they are full of plunder and self-indulgence." When the poor unjustly suffer because of the affluent persons' greed, the society becomes merciless. This injustice must be addressed. |
