John Lennon popularized the song that says, "Imagine there's no heaven. It's easy if you try." The Sadducees were not simply imagining. With conviction, they were teaching that there's no resurrection (In effect, there's no heaven). Life is meaningless and absurd if our vision is earthly. All things come to pass. There is something that gives hope. Even Ninoy Aquino, during his solitary confinement, wrote "We shall see each other again, if not here, in that kingdom where love is eternal." |
