Love is the spirit of the law. It was this love that prompted Jesus to heal the man suffering from dropsy on a Sabbath. Which made the Pharisees react negatively. They have forgotten that over and above the law is the welfare of man. We, too, are tempted to be too legalistic. We follow the letter of the law, unmindful of its true spirit. Let us remember, in case of necessity [of love] there is no law. |
