Whether taken as a noun or as a verb, the word "delight" invariably refers to something that gives pleasure, joy and satisfaction. In today's gospel, the crowd heard the words of Jesus with delight. Why? Most likely because he spoke with authority. He was both the evangelizer and the evangelium. He was the herald-message rolled into one. Do our lives delight other people? Are we, for them, a blessing or a lesson? Have they become better persons because of who we are and what we do? |
