I love purchasing items from the Surplus store. They look good but are relatively cheap. Jesus, in today's gospel, was not impressed at the rich people's giving in large sums. Those were from their surplus wealth. Admirable was the poor widow's contribution from her poverty. She gave all that she had [two lepta]. What are we donating? Things we no longer use? Cardinal Vidal of happy memory would close his eyes to single out any suit for disposal, ready to give without regrets even the one that was so dear to him. |
