I never thought the Golden Rule jibes with one of the Matthean Beatitudes. " Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy." In other words, if you want to be "mercied," learn to be merciful. It doesn't stand to reason if we expect "compassion" from others, yet we are not willing to "suffer with" them. What we give, we get. The mercy we share forms part of the circle. It goes around and comes back to us. Karma is negative. Mercy takes the positive side. |
