Those who say they have not committed adultery should stop awhile. In more ways than one, we can be "adulterous." Today's gospel makes a shift from the "act" to the "look." That means, we can commit adultery not only by getting involved physically but by simply staring at a person lustfully. We can, therefore, a thousand times become adulterous in thought, albeit not in deed. |
