"Credo ut intellegam." That was Mary's disposition. She "believed in order to understand." What she "retained" -- the events [in Greek "rema/remata"] surrounding the birth of Jesus -- she did not fully understand but she accepted them in her heart. Which reminds us that our limited minds cannot fathom God's mysterious designs. Instead of asking "why," we simply say "yes." |
