Even parrots can pray by simply repeating what it hears. Yes, parrots mumble words but do not communicate at all. Today's gospel reminds us that vocal address to God is not a guarantee of salvation. To pray "Lord, Lord" becomes an empty gesture if it lacks interiority. Genuine piety brings together the utterance of the mouth and the testimony of the hand. |
