The cross is real. Yes, it is. I bore so many crosses and I still do. Today's gospel speaks about the necessity of carrying the cross as a condition for discipleship. I had so many crosses -- sickness, loneliness, pain of separation. The most painful is betrayal. It is so hurting that those whom you consider friends and who show kindness in your presence stab you at your back. I thank God. His grace sustains and strengthens me. |
