Next month I will celebrate my 30th ordination anniversary. By the grace of God, I have been living a celibate life for thirty long years and happily I dare to say. Today's gospel speaks of those who "renounced marriage for the sake of the kingdom." Yes, it is for the sake of God and his heavenly kingdom that we, priests, forego the joys of marriage. Is our decision made in vain? Is it something regretful? Not at all. We are happy as celibate persons. We will always be. |
