Hope is the spirit of the celebration of Mary's Assumption. She has gone to heaven ahead of us in order to give us hope in our heavenly journey. How do we reach heaven? It by imitating the Blessed Mother's two examples -- charity and gratefulness. Today's gospel narrates how Mary was imbued by charity when she journeyed to Ain Karem to assist Elizabeth. The same narrative presents Our Lady as a woman of gratitude singing her Magnificat of praise. Emulating her gives us hope. |
